208 Main St., Carbondale, Colorado. Phone: 970-963-5741
We host guided float and wade trips on the Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, Colorado, Eagle, and Crystal Rivers near Aspen, Basalt, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs. Our local gold medal streams are among the most renowned in Colorado fly fishing.

Since we have been working out of Crystal Fly Shop in Carbondale, Colorado for 3 years now, we are not really "Independent Flyfishing Guides" anymore, and have taken most of this site off the air.

Please visit www.crystalflyshop.com for a more current description of our outfitting business and retail shop.  We also have a great online shop where you can great deals on all the gear you need!

This site will be going away someday soon.  We only keep it because of the website traffic that it generates.  We have also moved the page for our current report to www.crystalflyshop.com

"The three days of fishing with you was great. Your expertise was matched only by your hospitality and friendliness. You considered our objectives, capabilities (as well as our limitations) and stream conditions to make sure our visit was a total pleasure.  It was also fun to learn some new techniques. Your manner of instructing is very comfortable and it doesn't hurt that you know how and  where to put your clients on some really big trout.  I will be recommending you and The Crystal Fly Shop to my fishing friends. Thanks again."  --Mike Donaldson and Cooper Adams

ABOUT CRYSTAL FLY SHOP AND OUR GUIDE SERVICE:

Crystal Fly Shop is a small, locally owned shop in a world of fly fishing that is becoming increasingly more consolidated.  The Denver area has had a dramatic drop in the number of fly shops (from 20 to 6!) since the big box megastores moved in, and this valley is not immune to corporate owned specialty sports stores or even offshore owned shops.  We worked--not bought--our way into the business.  We're big enough to have almost anything you need, but small enough to treat you like the individual that you are.  Our guides are professional and experienced, and know what's going on with our local rivers and hatches.

Our clients are from all different backgrounds and skill levels--beginner to expert.  We're happy to accommodate special requests, and strive to exceed your expectations and give you the best time possible.  Most of our trips start from our Carbondale Fly Shop, but we can meet you at the river to maximize time, or we can arrange to pick you up if you lack transportation.

We enjoy a world of fishing that is down to earth and free from attitude.  We are generous with our knowledge, and our main goal (along with helping people catch a bunch of fish) is to cultivate relationships with each of our customers and clients.  We're thankful for the friendships we have developed with many returning customers.

We guide primarily on public waters, and have seen the effects of privatization of river access.  We are committed to fighting the "private club" mentality of certain outfitters in the Eagle River Valley that are aggressively buying riverfront property and closing it to the public, and strive to do as much as possible to preserve public fishing access.
